Validation
STRIV next to two lab references: a Bertec force-plate treadmill and a Footscan pressure plate.
Gold-standard validated.
Force-plate treadmills are the gold standard for measuring running forces in biomechanics labs. STRIV tracked the same changes as Bertec across ground reaction force (GRF), contact time, vertical average loading rate (VALR), loading time, and braking force.
Validated over 40,000 steps · 24 runnersHow we tested
Runners changed speed on a Bertec force-plate treadmill. Each point averages 15 steps. Average change error compares changes from each recording’s usual level. BW means body weight; BW/s means body weights per second.

We ran STRIV head to head with a Footscan pressure plate, the lab reference. Heel to toe, STRIV’s center of pressure follows the plate’s.

56 feet, walking and running in own shoes, thin shoes and socks. Center of pressure uses the middle 80% of each stance and is scored on 263 steps after a quick 3-step alignment per foot that those steps never saw. Pressure distribution needs no alignment.
